Financial Support

All graduate students are supported by stipends from University fellowships, federally funded research and training grants, and teaching assistantships.

The stipend is $24,000 for the 2007-08 academic year. Because Pittsburgh is so affordable for students, comparable lifestyles in larger cities would require stipend levels 40 to 50 percent higher.

In addition, tuition costs are remitted, an individual health insurance program is provided and paid by the center, and matriculating students receive a one-time educational allowance of $2,000.

Support is guaranteed for the duration of training, provided that the student remains in good standing.
